Anat Baniel is the founder of Anat Baniel Method NeuroMovement. Originally trained in clinical psychology and statistics, among others she was teaching assistant for Dr. Amos Tversky. Shortly after, she studied with Dr. Moshé Feldenkrais. She continued to study and work with him until his death in 1984. It is through meeting Dr. Feldenkrais that Baniel was first introduced to using movement as a means to effect changes in the brain.
Baniel developed and refined het learning-through-movement based method over a period of more than 30 years. She has trained several hundred people to work with ABM NeuroMovement. As a result, her method has helped literally thousands of people to improve their functioning in different areas. In many cases, this has helped them to overcome limitations where this was not thought possible. Her work is supported by the highly regarded and much decorated neuroscientist Dr. Michael Merzenich – who is often referred to as the ‘father of brain plasticity’. Neuromovement makes use of possibilities of the brain which due to his at the time groundbreaking research are recognized by contemporary neuroscience.
Anat Baniel is the author of “Move Into Life” en of “Kids Beyond Limits”. A documentary about her work was made: ”A Life Unbound”. Further information and references are to be found here.
